Hylaform is an injectable clear gel consisting of
Hyaluronic acid. The difference between Hylaform
and Restylane is that Hyaluronic acid is from an
avian source.

In spite of this, no prior testing is involved and
treatment can be done on the same day as
consultation. The effects are felt to be longer
lasting than that of collagen.

Hylaform

This treatment is based on a natural substance, called hyaluronan, which is
found throughout the human body. Hyaluronan's function is to help keep the skin
moist and elastic.

If you have been looking for a treatment for facial lines and wrinkles, but can't
afford to wait for results or spend too much time, Hylaform gel could be for you.
Hylaform gel helps to replace your natural hyaluronan, which is gradually lost
from the skin over time. Treatment is given through a few simple injections under
the surface of the skin, to help "fill out" and smooth away lines or wrinkles, acne
scars or other facial lines, such as smile lines, frown lines and deep facial
furrows. It is also used for lip enhancement and making the lip outline more
attractive. Improvements are seen immediately.

The Difference Between Collagen and Hylaform

Apparently, the "cushioning" effects of getting injections under your facial lines
are the same with Hylaform gel as with Collagen Replacement Therapy, a
popular form of facial treatment that has been used for many years. The
difference with Hylaform gel is that, unlike collagen, no pre-testing is involved and
you can start treatment as soon as you are ready. People who turn out to be
allergic to Collagen, are suitable for Hylaform instead.

What's Involved

This procedure takes less than half an hour and you can return to work
afterwards without feeling embarrassed, it is that simple. If the injection is a bit
uncomfortable, sometimes a little local anaesthetic is used to freeze the area.
The procedure involves a series of small injections, with a very fine needle, along
the lines being treated and then massaged. It feels uncomfortable for a short
while but not painful.

Post Treatment

The injected Hylaform gel is gradually broken down and taken in by the body,
just like the natural substance. This means that, from time to time, you may
wish to come back for a "touch up" treatment to keep your fresh look. Since the
Hylaform gel is similar to the hyaluronan in the body, any allergic effects, like
redness or itching, are very unlikely.
